Pervasive Intelligence in Cyber-Physical Systems for Future Society

cyber-physical systems, human-centric AI, IoT and edge devices

The huge amount of traffic data that can be collected as a result of human or automated activities enables the investigation of control strategies to cope with the principle of “Zero Touch” networking. This will be fundamental to satisfy the future requirement of society with its growing number of devices. The aim of this virtual laboratory is to study AI models for a dynamic and automatic allocation of resources capable of reacting to changes in services, application requirements, sustainability, and user-generated traffic. Specific attention will also be given to approaches based on the emulation of biological brain mechanisms, called Cyber-Physical systems, with the aim of creating a “conscious system” able to self-control a large number of subsystems (e.g., industrial scenario). New paradigms where the computation is decentralized should be investigated to make AI pervasive using networking and pervasive computing technologies (e.g., IoT and edge devices). The main focus will be to mature services whereby intelligence is not centralized in data centers only, but data resides on users’ devices, and data analytics and intelligence is moved towards them. The main goal is to stimulate the study, experimentation, and creation of advanced services based on human-centric AI for towards them. The main goal is to stimulate the study, experimentation, and creation of advanced services based on human-centric AI for the future society.
