UNIBO-DEI | Bologna

The UNIBO-DEI research unit that contributes to the RI activities is the Radio Networks group, that was founded in 2001 by Prof. Roberto Verdone. In about twenty years, the Radio Networks group has participated in eleven projects funded by the European Union (EU), including four networks of excellence (Newcom, Newcom++, Newcom#, CRUISE). Prof. Verdone has also been director for three years of EuWIn, a joint (University of Bologna, Eurecom, CTTC) European laboratory on wireless communications. He was also Chairman of the COST (Cooperation in Science and Technology) 2100 Action, which is an EU-funded programme that enables researchers to set up interdisciplinary research networks in Europe and beyond. The Radio Networks group has also performed high TRL activities in many projects carried out in close collaboration with companies (TIM, GD, Intel, FEV and others). The main research topics addressed within the Radio Networks group are mobile radio networks, Internet of Things and V2X. Over the past twenty years, Radio Networks’ researchers have authored more than 500 scientific articles, which have garnered approximately 7000 citations.
