Form 4 to 9 June 2018, ETH Zurich was held a CryptoDatathon.

The theme of this one-week event was to sense web social signals for cryptocurrencies by using big data processing, machine learning and natural language processing techniques. 

It is often argued that there is a paucity of data on migration. While this is broadly true, there is in fact an abundance of data being produced which could inform migration policy but which has yet to be fully utilized.

Vast amounts of data are generated through the use of mobile phones, internet-based platforms and other digital devices in real time, at very little cost. These “digital crumbs” can offer important insights into societal phenomena, including migration, as shown by an increasing number of studies and initiatives.

On 14 and 15 June was held in Rome the conference Workers and firms in the platform economy Open issues, empirical evidence and policy challenges.

A blog article has been published on Sage Ocean Publications about the research on Digital DNA done by Stefano Cresci. The work won the prestigious Sage concept grant.

An article published on the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera tells about the work that some universities and research centres are doing to create tools that allow those who work with data and citizens to be more aware of the new European legislation.
