Dissemination

We organize SoBigData conferences and workshops to to tell the news about our researches and to work with reasearchers and industrial partners.

Workshops

Computational Fake News Analysis: A Practical Workshop
Description:

The recent past has highlighted the influential role of social networks and other digital media in shaping public debate on current affairs and political issues. Disinformation and the alternative media ecosystem distort societal debates, increase polarisation, and threaten participatory democracy. For instance, the surprising success of Brexit and Trump’s election has been, at least partially, attributed to the unprecedented weave of false information that in both cases have polluted online debate before the vote.

2nd SoBigData Workshop City of Citizens @ Lipari Summer School

Start:
2017/07/19
End:
2017/07/19
Location:
Location: Hotel Giardino sul Mare, Via Maddalena, Lipari, Italy
Link:
City of Citizens
Description:

There is an increasing interest among different research communities (ranging from civil engineering to computer science) and industrial stakeholders on build knowledge discovery pipelines over large-scale mobility data sources. However, such availability also raise privacy issues that must be considered by both industrial and academic stakeholders on using these resources. The Workshop has the aim in presenting some emergent studies in mobility data analysis and complex systems in order to raise the interests in the field.

SoBigData: Well Being e Societal Debates
Description:

Complexity72h Workshop
Description:

The workshop Complexity72h is an interdisciplinary event whose aim is to bring together young researchers from different fields of complex systems. Inspired by the 72h Hours of Science, participants will form working groups aimed at carrying out a project in a three-day time, i.e. 72 hours. Each group's goal is to upload on the arXiv a report of their work by the end of the event. A team of tutors will propose the projects, and assist and guide each group in developing their project.
