CryptoDatathon @ ETH Zurich: Sensing Web Social Signals for Cryptocurrencies

Form 4 to 9 June 2018, ETH Zurich was held a CryptoDatathon.

The theme of this one-week event was to sense web social signals for cryptocurrencies by using big data processing, machine learning and natural language processing techniques.

Since the inception of the application website, we received around 100 applications from master and PhD students all over the world including Italy, Germany, UK, Croatia, US, Singapore, Japan, India, etc. Among them, we select 23 applicants with solid expertise in related areas to participate in the event in Zurich.
In addition, during this six days' event, we invited distinguished keynote speakers to deliver insights into various topics ranging from crypto-currency, information retrieval, complex networks, and so on.

Eventually, during the presentation session on the last day, participants presented real-time running pipelines of data collection, processing, analytics and visualization.
We plan to continue the work and build prospective research collaboration with some participants as well.
